This week it’s all happening in the Construction industry – we’re excited to be a part of the 2016 Construction News Awards!

The Construction News Awards are coveted within the UK Construction industry. Now that the finalists have been announced, our CEO Solat Chaudhry, will be travelling to London this week to meet with the other judges, as an expert in Equality, diversity and inclusion. Solat has been asked to hear the face-to-face presentations for the ‘Diversity Champion of the Year’ finalists, and to use his professional expertise to advise the panel in their final decision for this category.

The ‘Diversity Champion of the Year’ is a new category which has been added in this special Twentieth Anniversary of the Construction News Awards. Diversity is particularly poignant in the Construction industry at the moment as big contractors and suppliers such as Highways England are now looking much more carefully at the equality, diversity and inclusion practices of the organisations they affiliate themselves with – even going so far as to have specific requirements which organisations who are bidding for contracts must not only meet, but also be able to sufficiently evidence.

We’re pleased that the organisers of the Construction News Award are recognising the good work that many Construction companies are doing, and we’re even more pleased to be a part of it. As the preferred supplier of equality, diversity and inclusion accreditation in the UK Construction industry, we love any opportunity to spread the message about the need for fair, diverse and inclusive workplaces; and show our support for those who are already working hard to achieve this.

Solat says: “I am honoured to have been asked to judge the inaugural ‘Diversity Champion of the Year’ category for such a prestigious awarding body in the construction industry. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are essential in any industry, and I’m pleased to see that so many organisations within the construction industry are taking these issues seriously, and actively promoting diversity. I look forward to seeing the finalists’ presentations”.

The official winners of the Construction News Awards will be announced at the main event on the 14th July 2016.
