What is FREDIE and why do we prefer it to the standard EDI framework?

Why do we use FREDIE and not the EDI framework?

We realised that EDI alone wasn't enough to bring about real change in the modern workplace.

The data is clear: diversity is good for business. Diverse workforces are collaborative, creative, and more understanding of diverse market needs.

But for far too many companies, EDI is a box-ticking exercise that drives greater conflict and tension among colleagues.

How is this for a startling statistic?

So what is FREDIE?

We have been delivering EDI training and EDI accreditations since 2005. In that time we have surveyed over 100,000 employees to gain their views on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in their workplace and to ascertain how well our involvement has altered their views.

We realised that EDI alone wasn’t enough to bring about real change in the modern workplace, so we developed FREDIE.

Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, Engagement.

Without embedding Fairness, Respect and Engagement into people’s working lives, the EDI framework can cause more problems than it solves, particularly in creating unintentional schisms in the workplace.
