Disability in the Workplace

Understanding the The Equality Act 2010 and how we can make the workplace more accommodating to individuals living with disabilities.

The Equality Act 2010 is a piece of legislation that protects people from discrimination on the grounds of disability. The Act says that disabled people have the same rights as everyone else to access goods, services, employment, education, and other areas of public life.

During the training, we help attendees explore their own biases and assumptions about disability and then look at ‘disability etiquette’, what ‘reasonable accommodation’ means and ways we can support disabled customers and work colleagues.

Learning outcomes:

  • What is the definition of a disabled person in law – what do you look for?
  • Disability etiquette – are you getting it right?
  • When do you have to make reasonable accommodation and what is “reasonable”?
  • Top tips for supporting disabled customers and colleagues
